History and geography at this level help learners to understand human progress by reflecting on past events and developing sense of criticism, reflection judgement and evaluation with a view of improving on their physical and socioeconomic environment.

The teaching of history and geography at this level should enhance in pupils an awareness of the socio-economic, cultural, physical and political events that have shaped or influenced Cameroon in particular, Africa and the whole world in general. It should equip learners with strategies of conservation of sustainable devolvement. In order to better use the book, it is advisable to exploit all the teaching methods and techniques that would develop in pupils the spirit of objectivity curiosity, tolerance, criticism and patriotism The topics treated in this text book are in accordance with those in the national syllabus and the language is adapted to the pupil’s level. The text book is divided into two main parts; part 1 history and part 2 geography. Each part has twelve (12) units. Given an average of two unites for each of the six sequences that constitute the academy calendar. It should be noted that the teaching and learning exercise is a matter of facts blended with informative evaluation. As such each unit comprises a number of evaluation exercises to enhance pupil’s awareness of the subject matter. At the end of each sequence they have revision exercises that have been presented in the work book to enable pupil’s develop a sense of reflection, criticism judgement evaluation and mastery of the issues raised..
